Transformation is my art

I have been bringing characters to life with masks,
make-up and wigs for over 20 years.

Whether I’m working with individuals or entire ensembles, I love the expressive repertoire of this craft and the many facets it offers. For me, make-up is more than just a surface: it helps to bring characters to life and emphasize the personality of a role.

My journey began in the 90s as a hairdresser at Hamburg VIP hairdresser Gerhard Meir. Back then, I gained my first major event experience – from the Echo Awards to Giorgio Armani fashion shows. I spent my annual vacation as a volunteer at the Salzburg Festival. That was pure happiness for me.

After a year as an assistant make-up artist for the musical Cats at the Hamburg Operettenhaus, I was able to start my training at the Hamburg State Opera, which I successfully completed three years later. I then stayed with the team for another three years: in the ladies’ solo, in John Neumeier’s ballet and in international guest performances.

In 2005, I took the plunge into self-employment and founded my own make-up studio. Since then I have been working freely, creatively and passionately on projects that continue to challenge and inspire me.

In addition to various work for photo, film, advertising and stage, the following customers and collaborations form the focus of my work:

  • RUHRTRIENALE
Since 2005 I have been working for the “Ruhrtriennale” on site or for guest performances abroad (e.g. Lincoln Festival New York and various festivals) and since 2018 I have been working for the Ruhrtriennale as head make-up artist.
  • KARL MAY GAMES
An intensive collaboration also developed with the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg. I have been responsible for the make-up image there since 2010.
  • AIDA CRUISES
The entertainment sector of the Aida cruise fleet has also been a major field of activity for 15 years. Here I work as a make-up designer and responsible for a wide variety of wigs and masks and for their artistic and functional conception.
  • TEACH’N’CREATE
In 2014, I founded another, complementary company, Teach’N’Create. With my business partner Janine Mannheim, I develop make-up training courses and training material for actors who have to do their own make-up / make-up.
  • ATELIERS
I have a long and close working relationship with costume designer Volker Deutschmann and his studio for hats and costumes, including for the Autostadt Wolfsburg. Other studios are Constanze Schuster Atelier Couleur & Co. and dirk zilken design dzd
  • ELBPHILHARMONIE
I support solo artists and productions at the Elbphilharmonie.
The intensive and varied work in different areas requires a varied creative process, which I pursue with great joy and curiosity. I value new projects and their challenges and working closely with teams and artists.
